Advent Calendar Day 12 - A Charlie Brown Christmas

I have so many words and somehow no words for "A Charlie Brown Christmas". In some ways, it is such a piece of perfection that I can't imagine I could add anything of value. Watching the opening segment as the young children comment on the commercialization of the holiday, it seems as fresh as ever. Linus's recounting of the shepherds and the true meaning of Christmas gets me every time. Every. Single. Time. It is pure beauty. And who can't resist the other children encircling Charlie Brown and his now perfect tree singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing".Yet for me, it was more. I was a Charlie Brown. I never got to kick the football. I had "Lucy"s in my life and I had a "Linus". And this was the episode wherein Charlie Brown's contribution was finally acknowledged and he was allowed to feel special. And vicariously, I felt special.For me, this stands as the most beautiful and special of the animated Christmas films.
