Friday Fragments #42
Thanks for swinging my way again this Friday. As per usual, I am fragmented and joining with my FF friends over at Half Past Kissin' Time.
This week has been hot and things are getting hotter. Today is forecast to reach a high of 102. This is the point in the summer when I start saying "I hate Texas" a lot. And by "a lot", I mean non-stop from about 10:00 am when we break the 90s until about 9:00 at night when we finally start seeing the 80s again. Here in Austin, it is so hot... How hot is is, Traci? Seriously, it is so hot here for so long that no one bothers to bake cookies or sizzle meat for the camera. It is just sadly very normal. So to those of you bored by watching your coifed newscasters cooking on car hoods and sidewalks, be glad that the heat is still enough of a novelty to bother.

Speaking of "a lot" -- ye olde Facebook is covered with grammatically driven cards. This one has been cracking me up as of late.

On Sunday, I saw Michael Buble in concert. He is fabulous. In the world of auto tune making less than magnificent singers sound better than they are, it is a wonderful surprise to hear someone that is truly as good live as he is on the radio. (Yes, I'm old enough to still listen to the radio.) He covered everyone from Otis Redding to the Beatles to Daft Punk. Beautifully. As strong as he was musically, he is a really engaging entertainer from the old school model. He was funny -- very funny -- if a little surprisingly blue to those who brought their children to the show. But back to the music, here is the way he opened the show...And then he finished this way. I wish I had captured it earlier but I was trying to not record it and simply experience the concert. Nonetheless, I was so blown away, I pulled back out my phone just in time to catch the last couple of notes. At the end of his encore, he put down the mike and filled this huge and sold-out stadium with his voice alone. ("Alone" not "a lone", I double checked... teeheehee) Not many artists could do this...That's my Friday as fragmented as it may be. Join the Fragmented Fun with Mrs. 4444.
