Shining the Star Light -- Veterans Day Discounts
Every year, I am so heartened by how many companies honor our Veterans with discounts and free items. This year is no different. I always try to shine a little Star-Light on them. If you are a Vet (or in many cases, active and retired military), go enjoy. If not, please let the companies know that you are happy that they join in. To all the companies who share in this tradition, I say thank you. This Vet's wife appreciates it more than you know.
Restaurants
A terrific source for nationwide offerings is Military.com. Every year, they are a go to source for my family.Here are a few that we have enjoyed:Applebee's: Veterans and active duty military receive a free meal from a limited menu.Chili's: Veterans and active military service members get a free entrée from a limited menu.Denny's: Active, inactive and retired military personnel get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon at participating locations.Golden Corral: Military Appreciation Night - Any person who has served in the US Military (retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard or Reserves) is invited for a thank you meal.IHOP: Participating IHOP Restaurants offer veterans and active duty military free Red, White and Blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Outback Steakhouse: All active and former service members receive a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage on November 11. Outback is also offering active and former service members 15% off their meals Nov. 12 through Dec. 31. **Yay for the extra discount days!**Starbucks: Veterans, active duty service members and spouses get a free tall coffee at participating locations.Texas Roadhouse: Texas Roadhouse locations nationwide will offer veterans a free lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Offer is good for active duty, retired or former U.S. military.

The Military Wallet is another wonderful source of discounts.Home Depot: Home Depot offers a 10% discount year round to active and retired military. On Veterans Day, this 10% discount is extended to all Vets.Lowes: Lowe's offers a 10% discount year round to active and retired military, as well as Veterans receiving a VA benefit and their immediate family. On Veterans Day, this 10% discount is extended to all Vets.

Seaworld: Each park has a program that offers single day tickets to active military and veterans.Disneyland: A discounted 3-Day Hopper ticket is available to active and retired military members. Up to 12 tickets may be purchased for member and family.Walt DisneyWorld: A discounted 4-Day Hopper ticket is available to active and retired military members. Up to 12 tickets may be purchased for member and family.
