Go Bucket List or Go Home

Most of us have a bucket list of sorts and if traveling is on yours, I want to share some of the wildest, most exciting, and maybe craziest items I have heard as of late. Adding these to your list will definitely make them memorable.

It is my Universe, after all.

Pulling a Lawrence of Arabia

Any desert is a wonder to behold. Miles of gleaming, hot sand that looks endless to the untrained eye. For centuries, camels have faithfully carried humans through this terrain and still do. Movies have raised this vision to an art form romanticizing it even as recently as having the fabulously dressed ladies of New York ridde the dunes in “Sex and the City 2”.

I can’t promise you that every camel you come across will be friendly- they like to spit. TRULY! MY kids rode one at a fair and I was in the splash zone. Having said that, there is a certain kinship between camels and humans. You’re certain to walk away from the experience with a whole new perspective.

Take to the Water

Rent a boat and hit the water. Grab a paddle boat or canoe and float for the day/ I know I have had amazing memories made on Towne Lake in Austin with a girlfriend

Canoeing on Towne Lake, Austin

and paddling Lake MoShannon in Pennsylvania with my family.

Or you can go bigger. In South Padre, get together with your family or friends and charter a boat for a day…or a week. You’ll get to live in your own little world while enjoying breathtaking views and water sports.

Boat rental is available in many different countries but opt for somewhere where the waters are clear and you’re likely to see wildlife while you’re out.

Safari

It’s definitely not like the zoo. There’s something amazing about seeing wild animals in their natural habitat. South Africa is a great choice when you want to take part in a safari. I have friends there and it is definitely on the list. And since we are dreaming, why not stay in a five star hotel where the animals roam freely? Imagine having breakfast with a giraffe!

Float through the sky

I know high on my list has always been taking a ride on a hot air balloon. There are many opportunities to go hot air ballooning in places like Turkey. Now obviously, it won’t be top of your bucket list if you have a fear of heights, but if you don’t mind being high up, this is a once in a lifetime type experience.

Up, Up in the sky in a beautiful, a beautiful balloon

The views are like something you only expect to see in movies. Even when you’re in the air, it doesn’t seem real. Summer is the perfect time to go, with fine weather and clear skies.

Swim with …uh, Pigs?

Dolphins? Turtles? It’s all been done before. Pigs, well, was frankly new to me. I hear, however that they are unexpected swimming buddies. ‘Pig Island’ in the Bahamas is full of crystal clear waters and white sands…and yes, pigs. I am so intrigued by the thought of pink pigs swimming in the blue waters. So much so that I have added it to my list. These gorgeous creatures are living the high life on an island that they seem to have taken over. Cute and friendly, why not take a swim with them one day?

Sleep like a Snow Angel

Here’s a new one, if you’re looking for a change from sun, sea, and sand, this may be the ticket. Sleep in a cozy igloo for a night and catch a glimpse at the Northern Lights while you’re there. Surrounded by snow, you have plenty of opportunity for a few snow sports during the day too.

I have begin to discover the beauty of snow sports, of late, but that’s for another day.

So tell me, do any of these make your list?
