Sustainable Gift for Moms

This year I have been trying to be very conscious in my choices for gifts. Recently, I shared my budget-conscious Easter basket for my daughter. I have become very aware of our footprint and didn’t want anything that would likely end up in the trash or forgotten on a shelf. I wanted everything to be useful for her.

Keeping it Real

So with Mother’s Day coming up, I challenged myself to create a completely up-cycled gift that I thought would truly be enjoyable to her. Here is my country styled bath gift set.

First, I realized that I already had an abundance of items I could use.

Supplies

I started with glass milk bottles (yes, glass. My daughter has taken to them and yes, they are definitely more expensive. You can return them for a $2 deposit refund or use them like we did here) and a glass jar from instant coffee that we had saved. I had a basket from a thrift store haul, an outgrown Target jumper of my daughter’s and some craft rope from a different project. Also, I had leftover canned paint, blackboard stickers, and a chalk pen. Finally, I buy certain things in bulk which were perfect for this - Epsom salts and hair and body products. Yes, they are of the older, spicier variety… she truly loves those, so there you go.

Use and ReUse
