I Won't Forget -- Memorial Day

Today is the day for picnics and barbecues. It's time to get a great deal on furniture but not wide screen TVs. We can sleep in one more day and extend the weekend fun.BUT it is so much more.No country becomes or remains free without the sacrifice of so many. Today is the day to remember those who did not come home to the ones they loved. Today is the day to remember that it was not our blood shed but theirs and to say a heartfelt "thank you".I have spoken many times about being a military wife. It has it's points of pride and it has its sacrifices. I, however, have never had to know the pain of my husband not coming home. He is here with me and my children and for that I am immensely grateful and blessed. When you think today of those who passed, please think of their families. It is they that carry the torch, the memory, and the pain. They are the ones who tend flags, light candles, and adorn gravestones. It is they who carry wounds that cannot be seen but are as painful and heavy as any war wound. So, thank you to those who died for my family's freedom. And thank you to their families for carrying a burden I do not know. You are both in my mind and heart today. God bless you and all the fallen.
