Wow! Time goes fast, doesn’t it?

I know, I know. That may be the tritest phrase ever spoken but also, so very true. We are headlong into the summer and a full month of my journey into Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. And I definitely have some thoughts.

Firstly, if you missed why I started the journey, you can go here. And before you blow up my inbox, this was never a weight-based journey. While the word diet is in the title, it is more about maintaining a lifestyle of eating to feel and be your best. Those are goals for everyone no matter the number on your jeans and I am so happy I did it.

The biggest lessons I learned were more about when I ate (hence the title) than what I ate. I also gave a kick to my hydration with lemon, mint, and grapefruit. I have not made the switch to black coffee, sorry Joel, but why I chose this journey was its flexibility and an acceptance of what I could and would do in my real life, not some candy-colored fake life wherein I wear white without stains and never have roots and am IG ready at all times.

With menu planning, I am eating more protein and Super Carbs which means my family is, too. Wait, what? Super Carbs? Yes. There are super carbs. Few phrases had made me happier. It’s up there with your package was delivered and “I love you, Mom”. Totally kidding about the second one. I never hear that anymore. 😉 Hashtag Teen Mom problems - LOL. But back to Marion’s views of carbohydrates…

“So, despite all the bad press over the years, certain carbohydrates play an important role in balancing your hormones and regulating your metabolic rate, while avoiding the dreaded weight loss plateaus that accompany conventional mainstream diets. Furthermore, when you eat these carbohydrates, you’ll feel much better than you would if you were following a traditional diet.”

Yessssss! I now envision myself joining the other Justice League members sitting around a table snacking on carbs becoming more and more super by the moment. Alright, it’s not quite that easy. Not every carb is super but a girl can dream, right?!?

But I digress. As I do. All the time. Like right now. Oh yeah. As I was saying…

Because it is realistic, flexible, and has yes, because it has fruit, I think I shall actually stick with it. And again, not because I have some dramatic before and after photos (though Joel Marion totally does!) but because I feel better. I have more energy to be the woman, wife, and mom I want to be. And that is everything to me.

Everyone has a different reason why they want to eat better but I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t want to improve their diet. Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight addressed many of mine.
